Current Opportunity

Early Childhood Educator – Infant Toddler (ECE IT)

Position type: Full-time (part-time may be considered)
Age group: 11 months – 3 years
Location: Metrotown area, Burnaby
Start date: [As soon as possible]

As an ECE IT at Rising Gems, you will work with a small group of infants and toddlers in a Reggio-inspired, play-based environment.
You’ll build close relationships with children and families, support daily routines, and help create a calm, joyful space for learning.

Key Responsibilities

• Create a safe, nurturing, and welcoming environment for children 11 months to 3 years old.
• Plan and implement age-appropriate, play-based activities, including:
• • Sensory and fine motor experiences
  • Gross motor and outdoor play
  • Music, movement, simple yoga and stories
  • Creative arts and early STEM exploration
• Support children’s social-emotional development through gentle guidance, encouragement, and positive role modelling.
• Build strong relationships with families, sharing daily updates, observations, and photos of children’s learning.
• Follow Reggio-inspired principles, viewing children as capable learners and using their interests to guide the environment and experiences.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom, following all health, safety and licensing regulations.
• Collaborate with the team to reflect on practice, adjust routines, and continuously improve the learning environment.

Qualifications

• Valid ECE Infant Toddler (ECE IT) License to Practice in BC (or in process of obtaining).
• Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Clear Criminal Record Check for working with children.
• Experience working with infants and toddlers in a licensed childcare setting is an asset.
• Understanding of Reggio-inspired or play-based approaches is an asset (training can be supported).
• Warm, patient, and respectful approach to children and families.
• Strong communication skills and willingness to work as part of a collaborative team.
